In the morning we spent some time around Lauterbrunnen taking pictures of magnificent waterfalls.
The town also has many beautiful buildings.
After that, we went to Interlaken for a cruise on Lake Thun, the second of the two lakes that gave Interlaken its name. Both lakes were left behind by the glacier and were connected before Lutschine River deposited enough sediment to separate them.
We upgraded to the 1st class and moved to the upper deck for better views.
Lake Thun offers many kinds of water sports. There is even a sailing school on its shore.
We looked up and saw the road high over the cliff. It looked like it was hanging in the air.
There are several castles surrounding the lake. Medieval castle at Spiez is one of them.
Schloss Oberhofen is the 13th century castle located right at the lake.
Approaching Thun the beautiful view of the mountains opened up.
We got off the boat in Thun and were charmed by it right away.
Thun was founded on the island where river Aare flows out of the Lake Thun. It appeared to be a lot less touristy but the sights were just as nice.
As any medieval town it has a castle. Schloss Thun towers high above the town.
The castle dates to the 12th century and now is a historical museum.
