Journal Switzerland - Day 14 Mürren - Saturday, September 23, 2006

Back to Zurich

Our week in the mountains came to an end. We really enjoyed our time here and would love to come back again soon. But for now, we said good-bye to Mürren in the morning and made a trip back to Zurich. We were spending a night at the Hotel Allegra before flying home Sunday morning.
We spent afternoon in Zurich.
We started once again at the Hauptbahnhof, Main Train station.
Switzerland
The main street, Bahnhofstrasse, as the name suggests, starts from the train station. It continues all the way to the lake. Bahnhofstrasse is famous for being one of the most exclusive and expensive shopping streets in the world. Here you can get anything from diamond rings to chocolate and fur coats.
Bahnhofstrasse is a strict pedestrian-only zone running from the Main Station to Paradeplatz. Only trams are allowed access here. It is lined with linden trees and there is even a park on the side of it.
Switzerland
Bahnhofstrasse was very busy and we are reasonably sure that the majority of the people weren't tourists.
We walked all the way to the lake for a nice view.
Switzerland
On the way back to the train station we took one of the lesser streets. It was a lot less crowded but had nice buildings as well.

Unfortunately, the stores close early on Saturday, so we ended up making last minute shopping in the underground shopping mall at the train station. It has unusual fountain.
